According to the recently released memo by the Defense Department (DoD), the usage of hemp or CBD containing products could led the U.S. troops to be fined.
Matthew Donovan, Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, issued a memo in February which forbade the soldiers from using the hemp products under Article 92 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. DoD’s Operation Supplement Safety, a group that provides guidance to service members on nutritional supplements, shed light on it this week.
This memo is particularly for the Navy and Marine Corps who were allowed to use the topical products till now, not for the Army and Air force as all the products were banned for them since last year.
In the memo, Donovan wrote that this law was made to save the the integrity of the drug testing program.
He continued by saying that he found it a need for the military to have a ban of this scope to ensure the military drug testing program to be able to recognize the use of marijuana, which is prohibited, and to prevent the U.S. military from the adverse impacts of marijuana on the mission readiness of individual service members and military units.

The goal of the research was to test the potential therapeutic effects of CBD on children with learning disabilities and severe behavioral problems. Just 16 children between the ages of eight and 16 were involved in the study. While researchers acknowledge that the pilot study was too small to reach any conclusions, the study is found to be promising enough to investigate.
